I thought I was getting up to speed on this system, but what is a 'CID in line adapter'? I don't know what a 'green dongle' is, but there is a VM card in the 108 box with what appears to be a standard HDD on the card. I have no idea what size the drive is, but only 3 of 30 people are currently using VM and it seems to be working fine. However, they are interested in using the 'record' feature to record a limited number of phone calls - but even those would only be stored for 45-days before being deleted.

This location is using XO communications for their lines and I see on their statements that they are being billed for Caller-ID but nothing is coming across the phone displays - so I'm working on that. The menu screen shows 'CID' as an option, but I suspect this just indicates availability in the software (Eclipse 2.00) and not necessarily all required hardware.

Thanks for the help.

Forget about Caller Id on the IDS, Did I just say that? really, it was a waste! too much hardware just to make it stay on the screen for 6 seconds!...then it's gone, forever.

The IDS phone systems are now ' out of production ' for almost 10 years...time to think about the future.

Well, the owners definitely don't want to spend money on the system, but they would like to use any features it has currently. They are looking at replacement systems, but I don't know how quickly they plan to act - but I've already been assigned the task of researching a replacement system and I'm barely swimming through all the options.

Inter-Tel bought the Executone name and has integrated Executone handsets into it's KSU's. These systems will give you everything you need without buying new phones.

Is XO bringing you a PRI or are they breaking up a T1(or variation) with a CSU and giving you copper lines?

if you have a T1 of PRI, then all you need is CID and or ANI for the T1. if you are running only pots line through a channel bank, then for caller ID to work, you will need to convert the channel bank to a regular T1 and you can make it work.
if not, then you can purchase a CID box that supports 8 lines and hooks up to the system through RS232. you can stack up to 6 of them.
to record conversations, you can do it on the voicemail, but you only have 45 hours for storage. you can purchase a true Voice Recorder and make it work through SLI ports or by modifying the phones and using the 3rd pair to send the audio out of the phone to the recorder.
I can show you how if you need it.
what else do you need?

nonameyet, The 29k and 17k wave style phones work on the Access. I heard there was something about the 28's that prevented them from working properly.

You wouldn't believe what it's like to hear confirmation that I'am right on something. I've been trying to get my wife to say that for the last 20 years.
