OK Guys... Here's the deal. Here at our radio stations we use a IMX 2460. We do our own service / programming. I got certified by Intertel on this system back in 1992.

1) last year I bought a second complete & working IMX 2460 so I could use it for spare parts.

2) We are moving our stations into a new building in late July. I plan on installing the second system into the new building and getting it wired and running before we move. This will make it MUCH easier.

3) Several years ago I purchased the PROMS for the MF-Rated EXTENDED software but never installed them. We currently have the basic PROMS software installed. The system I bought has Basic Plus software installed.

Now my questions... I want to upgrade the new installation to the MF-Extended software. I plan on installing the new system and testing it to make sure it is working before I upgrade the software.

To upgrade I assume I just REPLACE THE ROMS. Do I need to do any special reset function to take the system to factory defaults after replacing the ROMS?

Even if it is not necerssary, I would like to reset the system to factory defaults and start clean. How do I reset the system to all factory defaults?

What else should I know about upgrading the ROMS?

Thanks in advance for the replies

Yeah just replace the eproms that came in the kit. There are two ways to default the system. The first way is to pull the battery strap, its located just behind the red battery test button. Just pull the plastic strap off the jumper pins for 15 seconds and then put it back on. That will clear all programming and even clear the time+date. The second way to default it is through programming.

The first thing I would do is save your current database just in case something happens during the move and/or the upgrade doesnt go so well.

To upgrade the system, just swap out the eproms, turn the system on and make sure you can log into it. The CPU should have a green and two red lights on, this is normal because your system is going to be totally default. One of the red lights means the database is default, the other red light means there is a database/system error. Thats ok, just program the time+date and maybe someones name to clear one of the red lights. To clear the other red light you are going to have to go to station 100 and press SPCL followed by 019. After that you should just have the green CPU light on.

It would probably be a good idea after you put the eproms in to default it both ways, first pull the battery strap and then do a system initialize through programming. The good thing is you have two systems to play with.

Saving your current database and then uploading to the newer version system will probably cause trouble and the upload may or may not take. You could try it and see what happens. If it doesnt work, just pull the battery strap to clear.
