So bear with me as this is my first SBX install. Slightly different system than the Avaya's and Nortel's I usually work on.
I have managed to figure out most of the button programming, but I have a few questions.
When you program a STA PGM BTN, such as Call Log Display, or any of the STA PGM BTN, it just says under the value that it is an Individual Defined Key. So if you look at the Flex Button assignment, you really don't know what the button is. Other than going to the phone and physically looking to see what button is, is there another way to do some type of labeling within the Flex button assignment to show what type of button it is ?
Does the mute button mute both the handset and speaker.
I cannot find when to program a handsfree button for intercom calling. Does this feature not exist?
Is pressing the Callback button the only way to access the voice mail? I can't seem to find a pilot number.
What about a direct to voice mail button?
Thanks in advance for the help. I am sure I will have other questions.

There is no other way to program them. Even though you can't tell what they are in Admin programming, you can copy them.
Mute is for handset and speaker. There is a soft-key for mute, so we never program a button for it.
Handsfree for intercom works like the Vodavi HTP. No buttons, you use PGM 1-2-1.
Yes, Call-Back button for VM, no pilot number. You can program a soft-key to record greetings.
Direct voice-mail: Transfer, Call-Back, Extension Number (or soft-key).

Larry,
thanks. That is very helpful. So the only way they can make a handsfree call is to use the PGM ? I want the receptionist to be able to call handsfree to other phones. Can she have a button for this?

Like Larry posted...at each set hit PGM 1-2-1. That will allow handsfree communications to other phones.

That seems really cumbersome. Can you program a speed dial to do that? Also, When I hit, PGM, 1-2-1, then I get additional softkey prompts, so I am not quite following you guys on this.
Second, There seem to be alot of soft keys, so other than lines appearances and DSS buttons, I can't think of much else to program on Flex keys. It appears I don't even need a loop key because I am using CO Lines.

PGM 1-2-1 hangup and see if the display doesn't change from a T to V (tone to voice).
No speed dial to do that...it's really the characteristic of the called phone you are changing not the calling phone. Just like the old Vodavi.
As far as other soft keys I usually put Page, Caller ID, Headset, Line keys, DSSs on the sets.

Its not like Avaya where the caller decides to call handsfree by using a seperate key. Handsfree is set by the callee...the one getting the call. That is where the pgm 1-2-1 comes into play. Once set, handsfee will always be the way that phone receives an intercom call. Unlike other systems there is no caller overide. Not that I am aware of anyway.

Okay, that makes sense. What happens if the caller is on a call, does it ring then?

Anyone know why the voicemail button is labeled 'Callback' and not 'Message' or maybe even 'Voicemail'? Wouldn't it make more sense?
Just curious what Vertical was thinking...
