THE best phone out there can be rooted and flashed with Android 2.2 and made to operate on the Cricket network ($40 a month for nationwide coverage and unlimited everything). I can load you up with both Market and non-Market apps and overclock the device to amazing speeds.

PM me if interested.

I'd also encourage anyone with AT&T restricted phones--especially the Backflip--to contact me as well.

Also note that the new Apple iPhone 4 is missing many of the cool features of the previous generations. This can be gotten around as well.

I'm not so much trying to generate business for myself as I am traffic for this portion of Sundance. There is talent here to handle these demands, but I fear few Google hits. Bring it on...I've got valuable (and quite legal) information about how to make these changes happen.

Until the FCC deems closed deals between specific service providers and specific mobile manufacturers as illegal, Sundance should be the place to come for such workarounds.

Great idea, Tim. There is so much to be known about the inner workings of wireless providers that the average Joe might otherwise never know.

I got my Droid and am quite happy with it in it's Verizon state. Not sure what more rooting it would gain me but then again ignorance may be bliss. Other then just unlocking the phone and being able to run root-level commands, am I really missing much?

Currently, there's not much I am not able to do on the phone that I want to. My only complaint is that sometimes the damn GPS takes 10 minutes to finally sync. But that just makes me want to smash the phone with a sledge hammer and then tell the insurance company I sat on it wrong to get a new one.

No if you can just me out of that Cancellation Fee with Verizon I would be all about rooting my droid to Cricket.
