I have received complaints from two users that when they put a conference call on speaker (after first using the handset), that they lose the audio. The callers on the other end can still hear them, but the users can not hear the call. Picking up the receiver does not solve the issue. Any thoughts?

Effie, most complaints of this type are the result of the basic design of the speakerphone itself. Most speakerphones (about 99%) are "half-duplex" speakerphones. What this means is that there is only one circuit for the audio to travel on, you can hear or speak, but not both at the same time. Speaking will result in your incoming audio getting cut off. Even background noise can trigger the microphone and cut off the incoming audio. I have even seen cases where the volume was turned up high enough on the speaker that it triggered the microphone. The speakerphones are designed this way to eliminate feedback. For this reason, do not try to use a speakerphone in a noisy environment.

Or if on an Intertel system, turn on full duplex by feature code 310.
