Why would an IPK (not II) not allow 2 way intercom conversations through the microphone? The MIC light is on on all the phones yet no va. I have ben all over the manual, checked all the COS options. Nothing. I installed this for a guy who bought it on eBay. Could it be a holdover from existing programming? I do have the option to default it.

Never heard of such a thing. I take it you are not certified on NEC correct?

Yes, MIC needs to be enabled in programming on a per station basis. Does not matter is mic light is lit, it must be enabled first.

Coral - certified on an old IPK? Not me. Wouldn't know where to get it either. Possibly the DSX series one day, but the 48/192, IPK - nope. Does one have to be certified to ask simple questions on this board? If I was certified, why would I need this board? Just asking, guys.

Hey, Jack.

The fact is, most posters here are professional phone guys. Even a pro can forget that the command A706 has a bug and shouldn't be used, etc. There are a few end users, and if the question is something that they'd find in a user manual, then it's a simple thing to help them. The problem comes in with people who buy a cheap third-market system (as here) and then want a professional, who has invested time and money in learning how to correctly install this type of system, to tell him how to program it.

Try asking a surgeon if he'll tell you how to take out your wife's gall bladder. Ask a mechanic if you can borrow his snap ring pliers, and by the way, how do you change a king pin?

Same principle.

Well CoralTech is apparently certifed and did not even know that the MIC is prgrammable. I at least suspected it was. OK, ok, so how much do you guys all charge? I take it that is what you really mean. Email or PM me your contact info. I do need on site support from time to time. BTW, I am a roadwarrior tech and have been for 32 years. I do IT and phones - lately almost all phones. Can't send that work to Inja.

Oh BTW, any surgeon would probably tell me how to remove a splinter if I asked. Not like this is rocket surgery.

Calm down, everyone! Just make sure HFU is enabled for all station ports & I am going to "assume" that the intercom is ring & not voice annouce? If so, change it to voice announce. If this does not work the CPU is bad.

Thank you, sir. 4-29 I see. If you ever need your gall bladder removed, call me.

Well Jack, more than suspected FYI. I simply was asking because it's pretty standard stuff you were asking about. There was no need to get upset. BTW if you suspected why not look under extension programming? Strange....

Hopefully, you won't be representing yourself as a surgeon, pulling someone's gall bladder out and going on a surgeon website asking how to complete the surgery. grin
