So this 5220 IP set has been working for a month or so and now display shows "LOCKED OUT". Customer says "I was able to make a test outbound call from the IP phone but the response time for the hang up and other buttons was extremely slow." She says it also won't ring on incoming calls all of a sudden. I have not been to the site, as it is two hours away, and can't verify any of this but the customer is pretty savvy. This is the only IP set on the system. Any suggestions? Please.

"Locked Out" occurs when a phone has been off hook too long without attempting to make a call. Lifting and releasing the handset (which is usually not on the hookswitch properly) will usually clear this error.
If the user has a headset, with or without a handset lifter, the user may be off-hook without realizing it.
Outside chance: you might have a bad hookswitch. I used to find that on Toshiba phones.
More outside chance: someone's downloading the entire congressional record since 1871, and has the network tied up.
