Hello. I have a 5000-00 and I am trying to program it myself instead of paying someone to reprogram it every time the power goes out. I had a triad phone go down and I just want to replace it with another phone I have on another port. I can connect to the bksu via hyperterminal I just need some documentation or support on the commands. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hyperterminal won't help you. Just swap the cross-connect. Then, get a tech to replace the memory battery in the KSU and you won't have to worry about reprogramming.

Thank you for the reply. I can't download the database, make the changes and upload via hyperterminal? Or just edit the db in place?

That's a lot more effort than moving a couple jumpers, and unless there is or was an extension already in place so you can swap the numbers around it wouldn't do you any good anyway. Move the jumpers it's done, swap numbers in programming and if you loose programming extensions are wrong. Pretty easy choice in my opinion. Going to edit as I don't know if you can even do this on a Triad. and unless there is or was an extension already in place so you can swap the numbers around Nfcphoneman would know, even if you can, I wouldn't.

Yes, one can download the database but why? If you had a power outage with a dead battery, your custom data is long gone. Once you get a new battery, your KSU data base will likely keep for longer than a PC that you store the database on.

I think you will need to hire a Vodavi tech to take care of this for you.
