Today, I went into an office with an AT&T 2052 phone with 2 additional 2022 phones. The main phone had both CO lines cross connected to it but the other two 2022 phones only had the the first CO line connected but still had access to the second line. The phones had the look of an AT&T Spirit but no KSU.

Just out of curiosity, how do the 2022 phones have access to the 2nd line?

I have no idea. Those are consumer phones so I wouldn't have any experience with them and Google can't even find them. So I have to assume they are pretty old too.

AT&T System 2000. Consisted of a "Master" telephone, that has connections for Line 1 and Line 2. Kind of how the current 4 line non-ksu phones do Intercom as a carrier over line 1, this system did both Line 2 and Intercom over Line 1 to the "Slave" sets. Confused the heck out of me the first time I ran into them, can think of only 1 customer that was still using them about 20 years ago.

Thanks for the replies,

I'd have to say they weren't consumer level phones, but somewhat close. Someone would've had to know what they were wiring up and how they worked. I've just never ran across anything like this. I will agree with TTT, I'm familiar with the AT&T 4 line phones that use line 1 for intercom and could only guess that this was an earlier version of this type of setup.

I also didn't have much luck with google on this setup, but what a head scratcher! The quad wiring in the building gave me an idea of it's age.

Thanks again,
BobRobert

I Googled "AT&T System 2000" and found a scan of a Staples ad from 1992.The ad listed the master unit for just under $200. So this would place the 2000 series somewhere between the Comkey 416 and the Lucent 954. The ad also had a bunch of now long gone AT&T phone & answering machines listed. Sort of like a trip down memory lane.

Here is the link to the Staples ad from 1992.

At this point, I am going to move this topic to the "Other Systems" forum as that is where questions about AT&T branded No-KSU systems are discussed.
