Hi, our Axxess 11 system once was upgraded from a 256 port CPC to a 1024 port CPS. Since the CPS is an aging Windows 2003 server and we can expect eventually failure, we'd like to remove that as a point of failure as we no longer need 1024 ports and can happily exist with 256 ports.
Can someone tell me high level what is involved?
I was told that the earlier upgrade would have replaced our CPC card with a different one that no longer has its own CPU. Also that our earlier license was probably upgraded and is no longer applicable to a CPC system. And that Mitel would be required to issue a new license. If that's true, it sounds irritating enough that we should just switch systems at some point rather than attempt this.
Advice? Thanks!!

The information is correct.
Your "downgrade" path is a 256 CPC or HX5000 to keep the existing endpoints.

Thank you, and just to confirm your understanding is also that during the previous upgrade our existing CPC card that we ran on when having 256 ports, that would have been replaced, so there is no way to revert back to 256 ports without a hardware and license swap?

Correct. Your CPU was replaced with Master-Slave CPU/PCM-F cards, which work exclusively with the Call Processing Server. You would need a single CPC-256 card with appropriate licensing.
