I am trying to install a DSS console in a KX-TAW848 system. The DSS I bought was the KX-T7740 which the manual says is the correct one. I have it connected. It shows up as an APT, not as a DSS. I had plugged it into the regular port on an PLC8 card, and I also tried to connect it to the pre-installed hybrid ports. Is it the way the phone lines are terminated? I used the cord it came with and phone jack I wired the same as a regular outlet. I have the PC program for the PBX system. When I go to select the DSS console, it gives me an error "E00030A operation cancelled. Please set appropriate settings". I somehow need to make the extension port type a DSS from an APT

Connect with Console, go to CONFIGURATION/SLOT.
Place courser on card you wish to use, choose PORT PROPERTY.
Under TYPE on the line for the port you will use select DSS and save.

Thank you for the help. I Have an older software program so it wasn't exact directions but it led me to where I needed to be and I figured it out. Thanks a bunch!
