Customer said they preferred line keys instead of call appearance keys as they just had 3 lines (1 BRI and 1 PSTN).
So I changed 3 CAP keys into 3 line keys, and then came with the issue that it picked up line 1 no matter what you dial, that means you could not even dial a internal number.

After some tests, I changed the keys into 2 CAP keys and 1 line key that they could pick up a specific line to dial out.

some manuals say "The line appearance button user must also have at least one call appearance button programmed before line appearance buttons can be programmed."

So we must have some CAP keys when we use line keys, and CAP keys must be PHYSICALLY in front of line keys, it that right?

Another question: how to determine line sequence of out going calls, for example when make a call, pick up line 5 first, line 4 second, line 3 third...
Put them into different outgoing group?

I don't recommend that you EVER use line appearances on an IP Office.

That being said, I did a pharmacy that absolutely needed line appearances, due to some IVR equipment that runs ahead of the system.

Put Lines 1-4 on the first 4 buttons, with Immediate Ring, then Call Appearances on 5 and 6.

Incoming Call Route still has the lines directed to Collective Hunt Group 200. The phones are all members.

On the Telephony tab, Multi-line Options sub tab, UNcheck the box for Ringing Line Preference.

Incoming calls ring BOTH the Line Appearance and the Call Appearance, but the users has to press the blinking line to answer.

Outbound, they lift the handset and get the first idle Line, and treat the Call Appearances as Intercom buttons for internal calling.

The Hold buttons work like a key system, they cause the line appearances to blink all across the system, and they should NEVER transfer a call, as that will make it ring to a Call Appearance button (the "Intercom" button) on the other set.

I don't have a demo system to test the scenario you described.
In my scenario, I put call appearance key on 1 and 2, put line 3 as a line appearance key on 3. it looks good when we test it, and no response came from the customer, so I think it works well.

Yes, it had some issues when I use 3 line appearance keys or use 3 line appearance key + some call appearance keys.
But it looks good when I change the sequence to 2 Call appearance keys and 1 line key, physically.

I am not sure whether Call appearance keys must be in front of line appearance keys? I mean CAP key on key 1,2,3, line keys on key 4, 5, 6.

It depends on what you want them to access when they lift the handset, or start dialing.

Does it mean when you lift the handset, phone system will pick up the FIRST appearance key no matter it's a call appearance key or line appearance key?
