Is there a difference in ~probes~ ?

In my stash, I use both a 3000 toner and Intellitone Toner.
3000 for standard 2 pair wire, and the 200 Wand for when I'm working in dense rack stuff.

With that said, is the ~analog~ portion of the toner on the 200 Intellitone probe JUST as good as the 3000 Probe ? Or are there different performance, etc differences/characteristics on the Probe only. I'm strictly asking on the probe as the 3000 toner goes much further down the line.

The 3000 is specifically designed to work on non active circuits. If you tone wet circuits, the tone will be subdued to a point that, in a dense wiring group, you may have a hard time distinguishing which pair has the tone. You may falsely identify a pair only to find it is just some bleed over.

The 200, with it's mating toner is designed to offer some better detection capabilities in wet and crowded cable bundles. Whereas the 3000 can almost be silent on a network cable, the 3000 will provide some trace tone, even if it is very weak. The network flash feature of the toner is a real help.

Let me paraphrase the question.

If I am sending a tone off the 3000 toner, is there a performance difference if I use the 3000 wand OR the 200 Intellitone Wand

Yes. The 3000 will be buried on an active circuit or in a dense bundle. The 200 will work, although subdued, on an active circuit.

I love my intellitone, the positive ID feature is awesome for determining that you have the right pair. (put it on alternating tone, short the far end, the tone changes if you shorted the toned pair) I've used it on mainly dead pairs, but have done it on a few active ones. Works great in crowded closets.
