Never tried connecting my laptop to a Call Pilot 3.1 that wasn't hooked to a KSU. I'm using a crossover ethernet cable, and I'm sure the IP address is still the default. Put the laptop on the same network range, and I can ping the CP, but not able to connect via the browser.
Do I have to have a KSU station port connected? Thanks.

Yes. It needs to be connected to the KSU. Make sure you connect the A connector. You should have light 1 on the left side and eventually the middle light on the right should come on. THEN you can connect. It could take up to 10 min for that right light to come on once you power on. Make sure you connect to the KSU then power on.
If CON is the opposite of PRO Then what is the opposite of Progress?

In case others wondering too this goes for any Norstar voice mail system.
They are designed to recycle their boot sequence until they see a KSU attached....as if the KSU has the boot file.
You would see this sequence repeat when watching via hyper-terminal.
