I've got a 1224 premier system that I need to access programming. All I get is garbage in hyperterminal. Can anyone guide me in the right direction on the com settings?

There is a 25 pin connector on the cpu card and I assume this is what i need to connect to. Is there software needed to program this switch?

The Premier can be programmed via pretty much any terminal program like Hyperterminal. The most likely problem is that you're talking at the wrong speed. On the CPU card you will see a jumper that sets the baud rate for the communication. If for instance it's set at 1200 Baud, then you must set Hyperterminal for 1200 Baud. The jumpers are 300, 1200, 2400 & 4800.
Yes, use the connector on the CPU card.
Settings are as follows:
Data Format is 8 bit standard ASCII Parity is Off (Ignored) Full Duplex One Start Bit/One Stop Bit

Ok that did it! All I need to do is make 2 ext's ring on all lines. Right now they appear and lamp on those 2 phones but you can only pick up a line off of hold or have it transfered.
