I have seen references to a RJ11 adapter that adapts pins 4&5 to 3&6 so a Digital endpoint can be connected to a jack with only 4&5 wired. Can someone enlighten me as to a part number and where to get some of these? I have a bid that I need to either use these or rewire about 300 jacks.
Thanks

I have never seen anything commercially made like this. However, we had some cords made up that do the same thing. One side has the wire on 4-5 and one side has the wire on 3-6. You could also take a keystone jack with a short tail and a mod plug on it and do the change that way.

Ed: This might not be the most professional way to do it, but Suttle's SE450B (see link) will provide you with the pinout that you are seeking. In order to do this, you would have to use them backward. Using a short cord from the wall jack to the adapter's line 2 port, the phone could connect to what would be the line-in jack. It's tacky, but it is probably a lot cheaper than rewiring 300 jacks. CLICK HERE, SELECT "Y" ADAPTERS Take a look at the wiring diagram for the SE450B adapter and envision it in reverse.

Thanks for the replies Jeff and Ed.
I did think about making up my own cords, but I thought that would almost be as labor intensive as changing the jack. The Suttle adapters look promising! Although I envisioned something else, not sure what it was, maybe something similar to what Jeff suggested but machine made.

Personally I am surprised Inter-Tel never came out with something to address this issue as it has been a problem since day one of the Axxess. They wired the jacks on the phones on 3-6 instead of 4-5. The only reason that I was told is so someone can't plug it into a POTS line and damage the phone...

I'm sure you could also find a place to make up custom cords for you...

I vaguely remember that they (Inter-Tel) hinted that they had some made and then left us out in the cold. Yeah wiring it to 3 & 6 was a mistake.

I like having the digital phone on the 2nd pair. Then if needed you can always have an analog device on the 1st pair. You can use one of those modular T adapters. They are kinda ugly, but they work. ![[Linked Image from assets.twacomm.com]](https://assets.twacomm.com/assets/2061329507/product_images/18257.jpg)
Ain't technology wonderful? Nothing like being on the bleeding edge.
