Customer called saying that their VM to email is no longer working. This is an older IP500v2 running R9.
Nothing in the configuration on the VM Pro server has changed. I suspect that the SMTP server that this customer is sending message to has probably updated a security certificate/TLS/SSL or similar. What is the best way to verifty this? I don't have access to the SMTP server (I think they are using a cloud based service for mail) and the logs I am able to find in VM Pro aren't very conclusive.

I'm guessing the only resolution would be to upgrade the IPO and VM Pro to R11?

I would do some troubleshooting I have set up a Gmail account with an app password and try that. Usually that works fine for me and the customer. An upgrade would be the last thing I would do.

If I'm not mistaken, this sort of problem on pre-R11 systems often has to do with an outdated version of TLS. Short of finding an insecure SMTP proxy you can send through the only real solution is to upgrade.

Toner -

I'm thinking the same thing.

Does Google provide an SMTP server that you can send to without using encryption? I've never heard of one, but I'm not an expert by any means on their platform of apps.

I think encryption is needed on Gmail. But I didn't have a problem on Version 9 IPO. You could also try Stunnel which is a mail relay and reliable. This has worked for older IPO 8 and lower.

Noted. Thank you for the suggestions.
I will dig a little deeper into this and see what I can find.
