New customer called to do some minor porgram changes, extend on hold recall, call forwarding etc. The vendor they do not want to use has a password unknown to the customer. Is there a back door P.W. ?? Thanks Gary S.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of anything. You might try calling technical support at 877-837-8422, or Hoosier Equipment Brokers at 317-788-6920. There may be a fee for this, but it may be worth it in light of the situation.

Thanks Ed. Hoosier said default the system. Vertical said ''maybe" throught the admin port. I called the customer back, they hired verizon for a new system. Some times being the nice guy is not only for my benefit. Gary S.

Wow, that system is hardly old enough to justify being scrapped. I guess it is the new mentality spawned by VoIP. "If it needs to be fixed, just throw it away". Just like everything else in the IT world where forklift upgrades are perfectly acceptable.

One of my long time customers decided to scrap their old Partner system for Verizon VoIP. Big disappointment. Verizon supplied Yealink phones that provide no way to be wall mounted, so Verizon jury-rigged some kind of bracket. But the worst part is NO INTERCOM. The damn system works like the old centrex for that. Each extension would have to have a separate CO line assigned to it and you dial that number if you want to talk to that person. With 15 extensions that would really eat into the monthly cost.

Very true, Hal. The difference is that all seven digits have to be dialed on the "systems" I have seen. Couple that with no hands-free answer, I have to ask "what's the point"? They just took a few steps backward in my opinion.

Right. At least with Centrex you only had to dial 4 digits. With that thing it's easier to walk down the hall and talk in person.
