Has anyone migrated from Enterprise Messenger to the UVM on a Version 5 5000 series PBX? How difficult was the migration? Were you able to transfer any on the recordings, or were they all lost?

There is no migration of the audio files. The structure of auto attendants and mailboxes etc will migrate but not the audio.

I had an EM server crash a couple of months ago, and enabled the UVM. It was something we had planned to do anyways, but under a more controlled environment.
We lost the greetings (obviously) and the digit translations in the applications. We considered restoring a recent backup of the database, but decided not to risk further corruption.
It wasn’t fun, but at least I didn’t have to schedule an after-hours visit for the conversion. I’ve got another half-dozen sites to convert, and I’m not really looking forward to working weekends to get them done.

Superfoneguy, we had migrated from VPU to EM, and it was as you described. We maintained all of the structure (Applications, mailboxes, etc.) but all non-system recordings were lost. That can be handled.
DND ON, you say you lost the digit translations. Do you mean the recordings associated with the DT, or the actual programming? That would make me quite unhappy.

The digit translations were gone in programming, I'm sure due to database corruption when the server crashed.
I did a split screen with a local session of a recent copy of the database, and did a lot of copy/paste between them. Mainly because it was during business hours and I didn't want to take the system down completely to restore the database, or risk more corruption.

You can migrate the audio from a VPU to an EM unit. The VPU has to be version 9.1 or higher I believe. There is a utility built into the EM to convert the audio files.
I would think that utility would be pretty easy to change to support a UVM conversion but Mitel brass just aren't big on utilities like that for field techs. I sure miss 'ol Inter-Tel days...
