I seem to remember one of you avaya moderators saying that you can use the one time R5 off of a new card to upgrade another system because the R5 has the software on it already. My question is once you upgrade the R3 to the R5 can you reuse the R3 remote/backup card in the upgraded system or do you have to get and R5 backup card for the upgraded system.
Thank you
Russ

You can use the Back up card in the existing system ,and you don't have to change it.Once you upgrade the system it will migrate the program to the New revision, then you can back up the program to the old card. The only thing you can't do that if you trying to restore a program from R3 to R5 then it will not allow that because you have to restore the program to the same revision like the back up. But as I mentioned if you upgrade the same unit you don't have to worry.i hope that helps.

Yes it does help, so after I upgrade the R3 to a R5 I put the Back up/Restore card back in and do a back up to bring the R5 to the card.
Thanks samh

Yes,thats correct. After you finishe with the upgrade you put back the old back up card and do a back up for the R 5.0 program ,and you will be ok.The back up card its just a flash memory card with 1 MB .
