Does the fax share any spare co and sation pairs? Sounds like fax cross talk. Try faxing from the demark. Try to Isolate the fax line form other pairs.

have you unplugged all the sets from the
cu
plugged in a set directly to 1 ksu port
and see if trouble is still there
if not start plugging them in 1 at a time
or maybe unplug the station that shares the fax first and test
any new costruction or new wires /mice ??
any electronics /microwaves etc near ksu
electric heaters //new radio sta near by
doctors or chiropracters move in or add
machines in bldg
are u close to the airport ?

DAVE,
If they are getting something that sounds like a fax tone on in coming calls that lasts only a few seconds then that is the caller id being sent from the Telco.

That doesn't explain the same tone on the intercom calls.

Have you verified that this is actually happening on itcm calls or is this just what the customer says? I'm betting it is telco crosstalk and the customer is just assuming it is happening on all calls, inside and out.
