ok Sheesh - here is the results: I plugged in another CPU (also CKE3 R7 V12) performed a system erase and reprogrammed the darn thing from scratch. It seems to work fine but my eyes are so bloodshot from being up all night programming it I will have to put it through it paces later. WTH? As far as I can tell, I did the same things to it. Thanks for all the help
