I have a customer with a 20 year old Partner. They were ashamed to admit it was 20. I told them life expectancy for any system is 10 years.

Extension 10 has been experiencing static and line noise for some time. It is definitely Ext 10 port. Other phones have been connected to Ext 10 and a known good phone has been connected directly to the processor port and the problem remains at Ext 10. Other extensions may be experiencing the same problem but does not get reported due to lack of use.

I'm thinking this Partner ir ready for retirement.

Any thoughts?

John

It is if they will spring for a new system .

If not its upgradable or repairable as there is plenty of new and refurbed product around.

Its just getting broken in @ 20 years.

Time for an upgrade (Partner ACS R6). I'd say after 20 years, they got their money's worth out of the old telephone system.

What Processor? If it's 20 years old it's probably a 206 and they are famous for that sort of problem. Should be an easy sell to upgrade them to an ACS. Plug and play and they can keep the same phones so there should be a big savings there. Obviously they are not feature hungry but explain the extras that they might be able to use like VM.

Yes definitely time for a upgrade. And like Hal said they could keep the phones they have if they are really tight with their money.

I bet the top of the cards are that smoked brown color?

Thanks friends, your confirmation that it is time to upgrade to ACS was my recomendation. I told them to either do that or expect to see me on a regular basis. I think they understood that prorated out they had a heck of a good system for appx $150 bucks a year.
