I'm very experienced in receiving hangup calls, say more than 15 years. All are of no harm but annoyed. However in these recent two years, after I got two phone sets, some game is beyond my understanding:
Someone can ring the second phone set (not the main set hooked on external line and cordless) but not the main set which is not cordless. Norm is both will ring when incoming calls come. It's never vise versus. Whenever it happens, it could be a hangup, fax sending signal, or one signal I'm not so sure, dialing maybe. It could hold the line for over 30 minutes even I hang up.
I checked with phone company but found no problems. I also failed to trace the number because the system seems unable to monitor this type.
What kind of problem is this? My phone set or by stalker? How does he do it? Is that any to do with computer internet hooked on the same phone line?
Appreciate very much if some one can explain it for me.

Hi Bihl.
We're going to need more information about your phones. Is there an office type phone system attached to your lines, or are you just using regular phones attached to the phone lines like in a normal house?

Is the modem in your computer answering the call and holding up the line once it has answered. As MacGyver stated we need some more info.

Maybe it has something to do with the cordless phone. I haven't seen it before, but maybe something on the same frequency is making the phone ring.

Canadian phones are different than what we have here. I don't think the differences are major, but we have had some issues before. That being said, I have only dealt with Canadian phones once or twice.
Anyway let's try some basic troubleshooting. Can you take the cordless phone and move it to where the main phone is plugged in, and then move the main phone to where the cordless phone is plugged in. This should tell us if the issue is related to the set or if it's related to the wiring.

OK, I will try this switch to see. But the foul ring might start in one month or even months later.
My record shows a longest stop for 3 months, but 26 times a month, 13 times a day, the worst. I truly believe it is man made. The worst worry is this guy is nearby using some kind of short distant monitor.
Thank you for your time.

It could very well be as newtecky said an interferance with the cordless phone. If so, replacing the cordless phone with something like a Uniden Spread Spectrum unit will probably resolve the issue.
Whatever the case, rather it's a day from now or a month from now when it happens again just drop us a post. We'll still be here.

you might as well getting cross talk on your phone line from outside if the pair is wet when the ring voltage crosses to your line wich generates the ring but the other line gets connected thats why it rings and there is no one there

Bihl, I'm not exactly sure what you are saying.
Let me rephrase as I understand you:
You have two telephone lines.
Your main line has two telephones connected to it, one is a cordless and the other wired (not cordless).
You have another separate phone on your second line.
Phones will ring when calls come into the lines they are connected to.
The calls you are talking about only come in on line 2 and sometimes you cannot use the line for over 30 minutes because the line will not be released.
This started happening after you got the second line?
Correct??
