"This guy" is a Cisco console cable, and is pinned differently than the adapter needed to communicate with the Partner admin port.

I also like the idea that mongo5150 presented, though many modems have negotiation problems with the Partner. In addition to a Remote Access/Backup card, you will also need to set the Remote Administration password (#730) prior to dialing in.

Thanks for the feedback.
I got in using the crossover cable and the Admin software (I had a crossover, so why not connect, right?), but I can't change the system IP this way, or can I? I think I have to use the 355A adapter to make those changes... I am trying to get the setup to use the unified messaging, so I need to connect it into my network.
Let me know.

To change the IP you have to use Hyperterminal and the serial port. Yes, you will need the 355A.

Keep in mind also that to enable Unified Messaging you will need Exchange running on your server.

Also, check your releases of exchange, and of the OS you are going to install the UM application on. They need to match the releases supported in the documentation. I have installed this before, and you need to use the supported releases only for it to work consistantly.

SMTP forwarding from my experience does work, but the mail servers generally do not support the type of SMTP message being sent by the UM app. They cut it out based on their security, or spam filter settings as the verification is not there if memory serves me. It has no way to authenticate the message I think, as the UM does not send enough info.
