Got a couple of hopefully simple questions. I need to backup an Audix box...need to know what type of tapes this thing takes and can it be automated to backup nightly...complete backups so that if it dumps I can restore.
Thanks Joe

Joe..
Which audix to you have, which tape drive does it have...It's possible to do a total backup, nightly!

Yea we need more info. The Intuity audix came in 4 flavors. Map 5, Map 40, and MAP 100. There is also the new LX model. There is also the old Definity Audix, but you said Intuity.

Call Imation to confirm what tape that is. Sounds like a Travan TR-3, but they made several. Regardless, its an old one. My oldset Audix uses TR-4's. www.imation.com Hope you got a good backup.

I have no backups...no one has been maintaining this thing and I've taken over for the guy who used to handle this box but I have not used Audix in about 6 yrs. What I need is a way of automating backups so that if the HD crashes I can recover. What is the best way to do a full backup of the system?

Log in as SA. From the audix main menu, select customer/services administration, then select backup, select backup and then enter.

It should. Put a new tape in and leave it over night. In the am you should see that it ran a backup in the admin log. 'disp admin'.
Under customer/services administration there is 'set backup time' Probably set to 3:05 or something...

What I need is a way of automating backups so that if the HD crashes I can recover. You need 4 things if the HD crashes. 1. A new hard drive. The exact one that came out of it. Same make and model. 2. A good backup on tape. 3. Software CD's. 4. Boot floppies.

Thank you for the input...problem is I'm left high and dry...no idea where any of the install or boot disks are. The original guy who handled these systems went MIA and won't return anyone's calls on where this stuff is. My first goal is to get a backup going and verify it is working. Then I want to get/find the disks I need. I know these boxes do not have cd rom drives. I don't know if the hd's were imaged or not. That may be an option as well...image the drive to another one. This way I have a spare. Not sure how that would work in the VM world...

call me Chris Howard, 303-593-1763, I can make it easy for you. I have the software and the hard drives loaded and ready for plug and play. Most systems backup and working in less then one hour.
