Hi techers, I have an old Partner Plus system 4.0 that works fine but I REALLY would like to have caller ID. I hate to drop a wallet on a new 7 system when all I want is to get to a caller id level. do I have any options with my current systems that will get me where I want to go for less.

With the age that is on your Partner Plus. You would be dollars ahead to go ahead and upgrade to an ACS 6 or 7. You can reuse the phones you currently have if you like.

No. You should upgrade to an ACS. Keep in mind that the R6 is just as "new" as the R7. Also, the 206 mods you have, if they are not 206EC you will not have CID on the lines connected through them even with a new ACS. So if you have to reuse any of them keep that in mind.

Thanks for the info. I guess I just have to decide if I want to spend the money just to get caller ID. If my current system would just quit working it would make it a whole lot easier.

There is a kit to help the old one stop working. Contents of the kit are 1)a 20 oz vessel containing dihydrogen monoxide (also commonly known as water) and 2) Instruction manual. If you follow the instruction manual and "deploy" the contents of the 20 oz vessel over the CPU card of the KSU with the cover off and the system in a state of "Powered On" it will do its intended job within mere seconds thus allowing you to gleefully purchase an R6 or R7 KSU to fully enjoy the benefits of. I have these kits available at a very inexpensive and competitive price, please PM me for further details!!! (desperate circumstances require desperate measures)

Sorry you are top late a guy came buy and sold me this bottle of H2O for a HUGE discount. It did wonders. But back to the 206EC mods, mine are 206EC r 4.1 I have a 5 slot carrier. If I just pull out the old P Plus processor can I stick in the R7. Or is there another processor that I can stick in this 5 slot that will get me there and work with my 206ec's?

you can use a partner11 processor with your 206ec for CID
I would look for a rel4.1
you can get one for a small fraction of the cost of a ACS7

wow that sounded like someone answered the question i asked. so now the new question. it looks like from my searching that a partner II will actually get me to caller ID without the fancy price tag. But really how much difference am I going to end up paying. Will the partner II plug and go. Will the R7 go in my 5 slot and plug and go.

The PII will plug and go. As to the R7, it depends on the age of the 5-slot. The older ones won't fit the ACS type processors. The backplane isn't large enough. Also, the card stop tab at the bottom of the 5 slot for the processor will get in the way of the battery cover door of the ACS. Just take a pair of snips and cut off the offending card stop.

Well, you are going to have to reprogram. Also know that PII's are very old so failure or other problems within a short time is a possibility particularly since its "refurbished". That's why a new processor was recommended. Will the R7 go in my 5 slot and plug and go.
Yes, you should have no problem with any 5 slot other than the older ones with the retention tabs. Then you just cut it off.
