I don't think call screening has anything to do with the messaging system as long as there is one. It became available with the ACS R3.

Get out the bug spray, this is an R7.

Taken from a Partner Mail VS R5 user guide....

Screening Calls
This feature allows you to listen to a caller leaving a message in your voice
mailbox.
NOTE:
The Call Screening feature is not available on all systems. See your
System Manager for feature availability. For more information about
using this feature, see the instructions that came with your
communications system.

The Partner Messaging Flash Card User Guide makes no mention of the Call Screening Feature. Nor does the Administration Manual.
Also there is no mention of Record A Call or Call Screening on Partner Mail R3 (The Seperate box that hangs on the wall)

Unfortunately I could not find a comparisons chart that shows which Partner Mail Systems have the screening feature, and which do not.
I do remember that ACS R3 and VS R5 came out around the same time and I blown away by 2 features. Record a Call, and Call Screening.

So, personally I don't think it's just a matter of being able to program a Call Screening button on a phone.

I could be wrong though smile

DND does not work call screen. Turn the DND off.

Another hint... is to try it with immediate ring on the station. Especially if it's an real old messaging from the Partner II day's

I don't care what version it is. In a power fail or disconnect of the set it may have to be reprogrammed.

It's one of those features like the call forwarding with a button.

Like Hal said If it's a R7??? AVAYA doesn't know.

brand new release 7 509 processor with new partner mail.

I missed it,

Call screen has to be assigned from central tel programing. You cannot make it work from by programing it at the set. The button has to be programed from 10 or 11.

Immediate ring with no DND, Not the best of both worlds on this switch.

Taken from a Partner Mail VS R5 user guide... The Call Screening feature is not available on all systems.

That's simply because, again- the feature was introduced with the ACS R3. That's the reference to "all systems". There were lots of pre-R3s out there at the time that the Mail VS could be used with. Also, the Partner Mail was way before even the ACS so don't expect to see Call Screening mentioned in that documentation.

The system won't let you program an F25 button on a station except through Central Telephone Programming.

Don't confuse or compare to Record-a-Call, two different animals.

(sigh) ok who's got an extra ACS and Flash Card Mail laying around?

Does Call Screening work on an ACS w/ Flash Card Mail?

It's unfortunate that in all those disclaimers in the ACS book about what would cause Call Screening to fail, that there is no mention of Call Screening not working with Flash Card Mail. but...

If call screening worked on Flash Card Mail, don't you think it would be mentioned somewhere in the Flash Card Mail User Guide or Admin Manual?

I believe it will work with ANY voice mail. I know we had it working on an Active Voice Lingo in the shop.

We haven't heard from Tommy about this, so nothing is definite until he has confirmed it.
