Our company recently went through some changes and we are now using a Lucent Avaya 302C Definity Enterprise Communications Server phone system - that nobody has any idea how to administer.
We lost many employees, and the majority of the phone extensions that were no longer needed were simply unplugged from the outlet. Now the DXS/BLF buttons on the attendant console are blinking for the phone extensions that were simply unplugged.
We have moved offices and I no longer have access to the physical phone outlets or to the phones programmed for the blinking extensions.
How do we get rid of the blinking light for the phone extensions that no longer exist?

Probably the easiest way is to change those stations to "x ports" That way they are still in the system if you need them later and the blinking will stop as the switch will no longer look for a station at the end of the line. ps: Don't forget to write down the ports assigned currently..that way when you have to put them back in it will be much easier.

You can look at the alarm logs "disp ala" and see the unplugged sets. The digital set will show up as "warning ready" those are unplugged. to make sure you can status those stations "sta sta xxxx" and it will show you "diconnected".
The analog set will also up in the alarms if the test on the station forms have not been change to "no". They will fail the ring generator test.
Like Wellco stated, print the stations out before you X port them. This will give you a record should you kill something that is in use and just in trouble.

Welecome to the board.
I guess the first question that I have is do you have a login to the switch? If not, you are going to need to pay Avaya to reset your logins. Once you get in, I would delete the stations that are no longer being used and remove their voice mail boxes. This way you free up the RTU license port that they are using.
If you company needs an administrator, send me a PM.

Thanks for the suggestions - however, none of them worked. I compared the blinking stations to the non-blinking stations. They all have "x port". I looked at the "disp ala" and none of the blinking stations were on the report. When comparing blinking vs. non-blinking with "sta sta", the difference was that all of the non-blinking stations had "SAC Activated = No" and the blinking stations had "SAC Activated = Yes". This seems to be the common difference. Could this be the problem? If so, how do I correct?

Simple fix and several ways to do it. 'disp feat' page 3. Send All Call De activation. Note the code. Now, change your station so that your have a COS with console permission = Y. 'cha stat XXXX' 'disp cos'. Then from your phone dial the FAC and the extension of the phone your want to turn off.
Another way to do the same thing. 'disp stat XXXX' where XXXX is the station with SAC=YES. Goto page 3 or 4 where you have hard buttons programmed. Find Send All Calls or enter it in an open button position. Note the button number. Then from ASA emulation, run 'list trace stat XXXX/A' where XXXX is the station number and A is the button number + 6. Then if you status the station, you will see SAC=NO.
Another way is to 'rem station XXXX'.

Depending on what version of software your using..that is normal for a station with SAC activated to blink like that. If the stations are not connected use the attendant console and canel SAC on the stations or set up your phone with console permissions and do it that way.

Thanks for the help - "rem station xxxx" does not work - I tried that yesturday.
AFter looking through the different pages using "cha sta", I didn't see anywhere that said to set-up the phone with console permission, nor do I know how to cancel SAC with the attendant console....so I went to the attendant console, started pressing the corresponsing ext button, noticed that the blinking rate changed, and then with a few more pushes, and "forced release", the blinking stopped. HOpefully they will stay this way. I was able to do this for 16 extensions, and 3 won't budge (one of them I removed the station yesturday). Will keep trying for the remaining 3. Thanks again for your help.

'rem station XXXX' should work. What is the error you got?
You assign console permissions by doing a 'disp cos'. Find one of the 15 columns that has console premssions =Y. Then give yourself via 'cha stat XXXX' that COS.
