That's because the board policy is to not post these in the open forum, this is not something the end user or others need and can make it hard for the rest of us. So we ask this information be PM'ed or emailed to fellow techs.

I understand, figured that's all it was. If anyone knows the ANAC number for my area 905(and/or a busy out num that I could use when putting lines out on exclusive hold, ie for system restarts etc) and would be willing to PM or email it to me, please do - it would be greatly appreciated. I am a facilities mgr. for our company and this would make working with our lines/pbx immensely easier. If someone would provide this, it will be held in the strictest of confidence and not distributed or posted anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

Jason, I'm sure someone has sent you a number by now but if I read correctly the issues you are having won't be solved by possessing that number. You might want to describe your issues in the forum of the system type you are responsible for to get further help.

Yes - I was PM'ed a bunch of which some do function. Although they are not local ANAC numbers, they are 1-800 numbers that happen to readback the calling ANI. I would still prefer a local ANAC if anyone has it - rather not abuse MCI's 1-800 service (not that I'll be using it much, but still)

I don't really have any specific 'issues' with my system. I have a bix block full of pairs that aren't labelled any more specifically than 'Bell' on one side and 'CPE' on the other for the whole range, and I need a way to find which pair is which number - the very purpose of ANAC..

and sometimes I need to work on our PBX, reprogramming, wiring, whatever, and need to restart it for whatever reason - it is fairly rare but when it happens I need to grab the lines as they become free and put them on ex. hold so people don't use them again. It would be nice to have something to busy-out the line for a while as well so they aren't ringing the instant I kill the power on the system, before it comes back up.

That's all.

Jason, get some 470 - 560 ohm resistors and place them across tip and ring as the lines become idle. Altho 1/4 watt is entirely adequate, you will probably find 1/2 watt more convenient, if you have fat fingers like me. You might consider picking up some clip leads, while you are at it. They make the connections easier. Here in the 'colonies', we'd probably go to Radio Shack, but I don't know if they exhist in Canada. Basically, any electronic hobbyist supply store should be able to provide the goodies. John C.

I usually install a set right there by the ksu.

For what you want to do (Exclusive Hold)this would be very easy to do right there as the ksu boots.

I fail to see why you need these numbers in the 1st place.

Usually when the labels aren't there or all screwed up, it's because untrained personnel have been working on the system. Why not get a tech in there to label the BIX blocks properly once & for all.

Why not just get a copy of the phone bill, start calling the numbers on it and see what CO position rings in at the handset? Just a suggestion.

Certainly not the ideal solution, especially with a large company. As well, I've a lot of invoices that don't list all the numbers.

Regardless this post is over a year and a half old & was brought up by someone looking for info that he doesn't need for his purposes. There is a very good reason why the numbers are not supposed to be common knowledge.
