I recently upgraded our 406v2 from 3.1.65 to 3.2.69 and there have been a few issues after the upgrade. I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction.

First,

Before the upgrade the fax machines did not require a long distance code. Now there is a tone when attempting to make long distance fax's but, it will not accept any codes? I am completely stumped on this one frown

I also have 4 Analog truck's that previously had no "Line Appearance ID" and now there is an alert on all four in the error list. Is this something I should be worried about?

I also have several short code errors but have limited knowledge of the short codes. I think they might have something to do with the long distance code issue. I have included a screen shot of the errors and short codes.

Thanks in advance smile

Did you do the upgrade as per the documentation?
If so you have upgraded to 3.1(999) then to 3.2....
Guessing that didn't happen....

Your short code issues are normal when moving up on those early releases.

Do you have a PRI, or just the 4 pots lines?

Just a guess, but the "9" short code is probably a secondary dial tone feature? I think that is supposed to be:
[9]N

I dont know what all the 800 numbers short codes are, unless you have pots trunks and a PRI, and are routing them differently.

The trunk alerts are nothing to worry about. You could put a number in there, the number being arbitrary. That was the release you could put line appearances on a phone, so you needed to differentiate the ports. Just put in 80, 802, etc. This will require a reboot though.

Mongo,

Thanks for the reply.

You are correct. We have 4 pots lines and a PRI.

I actually did do the upgrade to 3.1(999) prior to going to 3.2.69 following the tech guide.

Any idea on the faxing issue?

Thanks,

Do the faxes have any user short codes?
ANd that 9 secondary dial tone code is right.

[9]1N;
1N
dial sk1

[9]N;
N
Dial3k1

Those are the only codes needed to dial out.
If you dial out an an analog phone, you hear a tone? Like an error tone from the IPO? Could be its not matching a short code....

No fax user short codes that I am aware of.

The tone seems like a long distance code tone from the provider. Contacting them now.

Thanks,

Sounds like the fax calls were being routed over the pots lines vs. the pri.

Any idea where to start looking into how the lines were routed?

Thanks,

There are user short codes! Think this may be the issue.

They fax users have the following shortcode:

Code / Telephone Number / Feature / Line ID

[9]1xxxxxxxxxx / 1NY136 / Dial 3K1 / 1

I am guessing that the site is using long distance codes on the trunks.

Good luck with that. I had a ticket into tier3 a few years ago with the same issue. The IPO was getting the signal to send the code, but the provider was never getting the code. The site didnt care either way, so they cancelled the use of the codes.

I am guessing that is your problem, and it may be a bug. You can try to escelate the problem, not sure if there is a fix for it..

Mongo,

So... It looks like all the fax lines have the short code listed above. This is forcing the extension to use the long distance code of 136 which I just tested and does not work.

So.... I would like to change the short code in the users options, but the short code is "locked" and all changes revert after hitting ok to save them. Any idea how I can alter these users short codes?

Thanks,

If there is a padlock, it is under user rights. if you change it in the correct user rights, it will do so for all users that are assigned to that one.
