thanks for the info.. I was scheduled to be up at Jenne right now for my Avaya Ip office training all week. A family emergency came up the day before i was to leave and i had to reschedule my training until the next one in december. Unfortunately, I already had the customer commited for install next week and couldnt reschedule. I have something scheduled as of now with an Avaya business partner, just have a feeling though that our schedules might conflict. If it does, I have another contact that i got from this forum. Believe me, I'm not looking forward to doing this job after missing my training this week, but its unavoidable.

Not to hijack a thread but help me put this right in my head.
We run a IP Office in our fire dept dispatch center. Verizon and our business partner have both been pushing us to put our analog POTS line on a T1 Pri.
We use 4424 sets in the dispatch positions and the keys are assigned to a line, example first button is line 1 second is line 2 and so on.
We need the incoming numbers to always land on the same button so the dispatcher can set the priority of which call to answer first. He does this in the order of answering the published FD emergency numbers first, business numbers second, inter station numbers third, and so on.
Are we saying that with a T1 PRI the incoming lines are dynamicly assigned to the buttons as in if the station is idle and a call comes in from a number assigned to an inter station call (the lowest priority type of call) it will apear on the line 1 key and if while on the call another call comes in on an emergency line (high priority) it will show up on line 2 key?
If so this will never work for us, we need the same incoming number to always land on the same key. Got to say I am a hold out for POTS here as Verizon cannot provide reliable T1 service to our building as their cable plant is a shambles and we cannot have the loss of the T1 kill our 22 incoming lines. The answer from Verizon and the vendor is "back up the T1 with 10 POTS lines that will handle (roll over)the emergency lines in the event the T1 goes down.
Starts out the T1 PRI will save you money, till you add the 10 POTS backups, I may as well stay with POTS as 1 bad pair only kills 1 line not the entire 22.
Thanks for your help

You are absolutely right with PRI the same number will come on different buttons but let me ask you another question. Are you telling me that your POTS line with Emergency number comes up on the same button every time the call comes in? What happened if the line busy? With PRI you can name a DID line but you have to pay attention to Display to see what name comes up with your DID and you never will be limited with one call at the time. Yes it is good idea to have back up lines in case of T1 is down. Maybe not 10 but 4 is definitely.

If a PRI goes down you lose all 23 channels. I would feel more comfortable with pots for dispatching, and PRI for administrative offices to use.

Yes, All lines always come up on their assigned buttons every time.
As I said, I do not beleve that Verizon can provide a reliable T1 in my location. I have 2 T1's now providing inter station tie lines and voice channels for the radio system.
In a thunder storm a close by lightning strike causes the T1's to loose sync bringing them down for about a minite. Could not see a PRI handling emergency calls from the public glitching and droping the call.
As I said, Verizons cable plant is in such bad shape that I could not see puting all my eggs in 1 Verizon basket. We are also located close to the railroad tracks and they seem to get struck by lightning in almost every storm causing the existing T1's to glitch. Meanwhile POTS keeps humming along.
The existing T1's are delivered over what I think is a 2 wire HDSL circuit (190 volts to power the card) and the slightest impulse on the line causes them to loose sync.
