I have a customer with a ip office 500, they are saying that a caller is hearing 5 to 6 rings before the phones even ring once in the office. These are regular pots lines and digital phones, no ip. What would cause this?

Are you using VM Pro or Embedded? With caller ID you need a 2 ring delay. Check your Hunt Group programming to see the ring delay settings.

It's embedded. The AA answers after 4 rings. This only happens some of the time. I tested it and the first time the system started ringing after I heard 2 rings, pretty normal. the next time, I heard 6 rings from the CO before the phones started ringing.

Um.....funny you should mention this. We had a customer call in today with the same symptoms. Of coarse once we got on site to check things out, all was good and couldn't get it to act up.
Would the lines been on a combo card by chance?

Have you watched in System Status or Monitor while you are calling in?

They are copper POTS lines. The lines are on the main processor.

As a test, set the trunks to loop start (without CID) and see if you get the same response. Watch monitor while making a test call. Are your POTS from a traditional telco, or from a cable modem or similar? Mike
