Hello Board,
I am trying to change a few things on a CTX28 system that is already installed and working great. One thing I want to do is add "on hold" music and change a few names in the directory. I have a copy of WinAdmin & its manual. My question is, what kind of cable do I need to make to connect to the main board from my computer? Where do I connect to on the board and does it connect to my serial output on my computer? any wiring diagrams or references would be greatly appreciated.

I have only worked on CTX 100 + 670's but the cable between my Lan port of my laptop and the Lan connection on the processor board of the CTX is a crossover cable. also make sure your TCP/IP setting on your Lan port is 192.168.254.251 with a sub mack of 255.255.255.0

OK guys, I think we're talking about two different things.

First the MOH device (radio or CD player) only need be connedted to the RCA connector in the CTX28.....thats all you do.

Second, when you say "Directory", are you talking about the names in the Voice Mail? If thats the case, you will need a 6-pin flat cord (base cord) and a PPTC-9 (DB-9 to RJ-14) adapter. Also you will have to have the Stratagy Admin 4X software to program the voice mail.

If you are talking about the names as they may appear on the display phones, they can be changed with the CTX WinAdmin.

djm is right. The laptop computer has to have WIN2K or XP-PRO (HOME will NOT work). Install WinAdmin on the PC and connect with a cross-over cable. Its really very easy.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

P.S.....You won't get much more help here without a COMPLETE profile... [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

You also need to have the optional GETS network card installed in the CTX 28

You can also use the analog port on the switch. Cross connect a jack to the port on the 28, hook your computer to it via dial-up. Go into WinAdmin and set up like you are going to dial into the switch ( which you are becauce you are making an station to station call) enter #19 in the phone number area. This way you don't have to buy the extra card it's a little slower but not much
also remember to use r4 admin for the voicemail not ivp8
as far as music just plug it in ,

the newer version of IVP8 also use r4 admin.
If you use any of the other three versions of admin you will mess up the V.M. so make sure of your voice mail revision level
