I had a DK16 using a Voiceworks VM (external VM)when the DK16 power supply went bad. I didn't have a DK16 powersupply but did have a DK40 so i put that in instead. Now, when the calls are answerd by the VM AA and they dial an extention the phone doesn't ring - doesn't even flash - and the call goes back to the main greeting.

For problem 1 - sounds like the DTMF integration isn't working - what is different about the DK40 that it doesn't work in it, but the VM worked fine in the DK16.

For problem 2 - is there a different set of VM ID codes to use with the Voice Works VM? I tried using the #656-91 code with no luck.

I agree with you on issue #1. The inband signaling should be set as # + mailbox number + # to leave a message. For retrieve, it should be set for * + mailbox number + #. Of course, these need to be changed in the DK40. You will probably need to check the message waiting set and cancel codes while you are at it to see if those are different.

Where do I find what the codes should be for the VoiceWorks? I looked in the progrmaming manual the customer had and there was nothing listed for VM or MSG Light ID codes.

Message waiting codes are in function 515 of the VoiceWorks.

They do show that phone system type 45 (function 205) will set defaults for the DK series, but I don't believe that the DK40 even existed when the VW was in production.

I believe it be in your best interest to try to match what was already there rather than changing anything in the voice mail.

I am not touching the VM - no worries there!

If the codes/type of system is set on the Voice Works and all we did is went from the DK16 to the DK40, which really only increased the number of ports - same cards are used in both, wouldn't it stand to reason that it should work?

So I take it that there's no chance of getting the DK16 back to life to find out how it was set up?

It has been a long time since I worked with DK systems. Didn't you have to include the whole leave message string in the forwarding setup at each phone? I'm sure that they've improved upon that by now, but I figured I'd ask.

Did u put in the 3 sets of call forwarding
603 or 604
656
657

its pretty much the same as 280 ,the 14,40,280,424 are in the same book not 16

We didn't install this - it came from NYC. WE got called because the power supply crapped out.

i did try the forwardignn and that works - but sends the calls to the main greeting not the personal mailbox.

The bigger problem is that when an extension is dialed in the AA it isn't even ringing the phones. It did on the DK16 but not on the DK40.

A simple fix might be to just change the VW to supervised transfer. That way, it won't rely on all of the necessary forwarding codes in the DK.

Will the DK40 power supply fit the DK16 KSU?

Sorry, don't have my manuals handy, but just popped the cover off a DK40i and it has a K5RCU card in the bottom of the cabinet which is required to receive DTMF tones from the single line ports - you also need to mark it as installed in system programming - (?) Prog. 03 slot 00 (?)

(?) - Verify that in a manual, I'm pretty sure about the Prog. 03, less positive about the slot number, and you still need to know what data to put in that entry.

Did you put in a dtmf reciever in the DK40 and programmed slot 00 for a 92?

phonemeister - yes we did
BobRobert - no it won't
Ed - I have no idea how to make changes in the voice mail. Does it require admin software and cable? I can also get a DK16 power supply, but I don't have one here.

No cable or software is needed, the Voiceworks is 100% touch-tone programmable. I can talk you through changing it if you want to give that a try.

I will keep that in mind. Thanks!

Remember in the DK16, # was not used in setting the codes. ie: CFNA is Int 603 in the DK16 and Int #603 in the DK40.

If you dont get the dk40 going ,which really looks like programming ,intergration issues,
There are 5-6 16's on ebay.
The resellers dont seem to have any.
