I would appreciate any help in this issue:
I've got fms(8) card with 1.8 software on the flash. It's acting strange (althrough I didn't try to access it with cosessions), it boots up and after the initialization the run led is blinking (ok), mb led is steady(ok) and bclr is steady red (problem). The channel led's (total 8 of them) getting red within 2-3 minutes after the initialization starting with the channel 8.
My questions are:
1. is fms(8) supported on elite 48
2. do I have to initialize the cabinet first to see a vm card?
3. could it be a problem with the board?

Any feedback is appreciated.

The system needs to be told what card is in each slot (mem.b. 7-1)The sta/ext. need to be set as dig. v-mail.
fms is supported on an elite 48 but you must be under 48 total ports

what is the q version, haved u ran a defrag on the c: drive, you probably have some database errors

Thanks for the input!

Well the things here are very interesting:
I'm unable to connect to the vm from cosession (tried all settings) but was successful connecting using hyperterm in vt100 mode. the autoexec.bat is set to the speed of 9600bps which is strange and there is no cossession host software installed (it uses dos's mode.com). Moreover, the directories on the drive are
ACD <DIR> 08-05-2002 11:58a
BICOM <DIR> 08-05-2002 11:58a
DEFAULTS <DIR> 08-05-2002 11:58a
DOS <DIR> 08-05-2002 11:58a
PCM <DIR> 08-05-2002 11:58a
UTILITY <DIR> 08-05-2002 11:58a

Also, when I try to start acd.exe, it gives me "BLF" errors for every channel.

There is some programming exist on the ksu and on the vm.
Coud I reset the ksu and vm to the defaults and reprogram from the scratch?
What is the procedure?
Thanks again!

pop the compact flash card into a external reader and do a scandisk & defrag.

then pop it back into the fms card and see if it will boot up enough to get into maint mode to do a database check.

Well, ran the scandisk, no errors and defrag'd, same thing...
Should I try to restore vm to default from defaults directory?

turn on the piano key #4, it is the one on the top of the card, push it to the right and reboot the card. it will come up to the utlity menu. check for database errors.

after turning the piano key#4 (as well as 3) the system boots into the dos prompt and can be accessible by vt100.
What should I do next?

that's what i'm actually getting for each channel:
BLF test fail channel 5 <<QSTAT>> 02 0000000000*0000000000*0000000000*0000000000
*
<<QSTAT>> 02 0000000000*0000000000*0000000000*0000000000*

press 2 for repair database errors, and what procedure did u do when defraging the hard drive.
Posted By: bigc3310 Re: FMS(8)-U10 in Elite 48 -problem? - 01/13/06 08:51 PM
do u have piano key #3 on?
Posted By: dennis Re: FMS(8)-U10 in Elite 48 -problem? - 01/13/06 09:06 PM
I pulled out the flash and defrag'd it in a pc...
I don't get any prompt to press 2...
I'm able to access the vm only in hyperterminal and all it does, is loading the bicom driver(ok) and then runs acd.exe which actually displays these errors and goes back to the dos prompt.
Also, I suspect that some of the files are deleted form the hd... I don't see any subdirectories named "vm"
And, lastly, the key 3 was "on" and 4 was "on" too.

key #3 is for remote maintenance, for a modem, turn key 3 off and reboot card. leave key 4 on. u should be able to get in with cosessions. the default baud rate is 19200. it will come up in the utility menu and u can run a database check from there.

I did start the vm with 4 "on" and 3 "off" but results are the same, the dos prompt and vt100 after the acd.exe ends it's execution with errors...

ACD.EXE??

Your not trying to access an ACD Plus card are you??
Posted By: dennis Re: FMS(8)-U10 in Elite 48 -problem? - 01/14/06 04:21 PM
Paul,
Huh? That initially made me suspect that the flash card installed on the board is not the correct one for the vm. The board itself is FMS(8)-U10 but the flash card is 48MB and has a sticker "software rev v1.80" and "Datalight".
Please let me know if you have any additional info on this issue.

Paul, Thank you for pointing me to the right direction!
The acd plus software installed on the flash.
Now it make sence to me why I was getting "BLF test". I should have configured it as "ACD" in 7-1, not as "VMS"...

Now, the question is, is it possible to obtain a
flash with voicemail?

Hi Dennis.

Glade it was resolved.

It should be posible to buy one from NEC. Don't know what the pricing would be though from memory the card hardware is the same . If it is one of the latest cards it will take a 8 port flash rom however not all the older FMS mails would take 8 ports only 4 ports.
