just put in a new idcs100 last week.

customer wants to use the ame function now.

i programmed it up but it doesn't work. called tech support & they were (of course) no help. telling me to default the system.

here's what i got:
rom version=9/2/2004 1.38
svmi version=9/24/2004 4.0
mmc codes:
722 added ame button to phone
701 vm ame=yes
102 phone is set to no answer the vm
110 ame pw=off
phones are all idcs28d

i press the ame button & it's lit red.
i call into the system, get transferred to that ext. it rings until it's forwarded to the vm. now the ame light blinks letting the person know that someone is in their vm. when i leave a message it does not play over the speaker.

W H Y ?????????? i'm at a loss. thanks!

I just put 1 in last week but didn't use the ame feature.I assume you have the SVMi4E.If I get back there this week I'll give it a try and see if I can get it to work.

The problem was a DOS issue and nothing to do with AME.

I have experienced that on an iDCS 500R2 with SMVI-16, that FNA (MMC 102) must be set to VM. AME does not work if ONLY FNA in MMC 316 is set and not MMC 102.

The following comments are directed at Samsung:

a) This is most likey an overlook in firmware (bug). If it is, kindly address it.

b) If this behavour is by design, then it should be well documented, which it is not. Not only would proper documentation save Samsung tech support unnecessary work load but it would also save Dealers and Customers time and aggrivation.
