Shame no one actually shot footage; it reads almost exactly like an episode of Connections. Did Stephenson write for Burke?

Perhaps this should be moved to the outside cabling forum. The reason why there is no audio is because the author writes for a paper publication called wired magazine and this was written in 1996.
