We have a DSC5010/832 and we programmed the system to report to the cell phone when tripped.

It worked fine until we switched phone company to digital system. Security system still dials out but does not reach cell phone. Do we have to change the Communicator Programming(301)to have more or delete '2 sec pauses'; 'wait for Dial Tone' or 'End Number'?

Any help is appreciated!

I would experiment with adding pauses at the end of the phone number.

I have never had much luck with a dialer on digital lines..please let us know how using the pauses works out

It's also worth a shot to make sure the panel is set to use "Tone" dialing instead of "pulse", Data Field 380 Option 3.

Hi Guys, the pauses at the end of phone number does not work. The system was set to use "DTMF Dialing" in 380, Option 3. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

How are you testing that the systems still dials out? What do you hear etc. when the system attempts to dial?

The modem's telephone green light blinks when the alarm trips indicating the phone is turned on but we cannot hear a dial tone.

If you can't draw dial tone there is another problem, not because of the switch to digital. If you connect a butt set to the line at the panel can you get dial tone and does it dial out?

I don't understand what is a butt set to the line at the panel?

A butt set is a test set to test telephone lines and will allow you to listen to what is happening on the line when the panel tries to dial out.

More than likely when they installed your modem they just "back fed" the new line from whatever jack was closest to the modem. If the alarm was originally wired correctly for line seizure with standard dial tone at the d-marc, your line seizure is now in fact wired backwards and will actually kill dial tone to the panel when the alarm activates instead of the other way around.

It's probably an easy fix with the correct tools, but the cost of a butt sett is more than it would be to call in a tech to fix the problem. Without you being able to hear what is going on, unfortunately there is not much more we can help with as we are shooting in the dark too. Good luck.

We will call the technician back to butt test the line. Thank you so much for all your help! We will let you know the results after the test.

Hi Guys, we did not call the digial phone company after a friend of ours gave us a suggestion. He suggested adding a 2 wire DSL micro filter in line from the modem to cancel interference from the internet signal. This solved our problem!!!!!! We did not have to change any of our previous settings. Thank you for all of your time.
