HI!!There! Just learning ip500 office,,quick question when setting up remote managing for off site maintenance , do i connect the Wan port to the router and keep the lan port for in house admin??Thanks
The LAN port will go the the customers LAN, so that the IPO is connected to the customers network for Phone Manager/One-X, VM to e-mail ect.
Then for remote admin, we put log-me-in on the dedicated VM server.
And if you went with Embedded VM, just get a CHEAP pc, load Manager and LogMeIn on it, set the power scheme to turn back on after a power failure, and throw it in without a monitor or keyboard. Cheap insurance.
Okay You lost me ,i don't know how to do what you are doing, do you need VM pro ??? I just want to use what the Ip 500 provides thru the existing ports,, to test with .
Sorry, ATechguy.
I quess my first question should have been, "Are you or your company certifited to sale and service the IPO?"
@ TTT, Yep, we have been using cheap netbooks for that. Works great. :thumb:
Yes i am a reseller.I missed the course so i am trying to learn what i can on passed experience with partner and other systems .I will connect ip500 land port to the router and do port forwarding UDP &TCP thru Ports 50791 thru 50813 .???
I would not do that, that opens the network to being compromised.
Isnt there a VPN router?
Hi! do you mean VPN on the Ip 500 or on the router??I believe my router has Vpn setup configuration.I have never set a Vpn tunnel yet.Just trying to head in the right direction to try some testing from my office. Thanks
FOr remote access, I would set up a VPN connection between your laptop and the VPN Router. That will be better than opening all those ports.
Skip the hassle of VPN and do as others have suggested. Put a cheap PC on site and use the remote access software of your choosing. There is beauty in simplicity!

From what I understand, the WAN port isn't really a WAN port at all...just a 2nd LAN port that is mis-labled. That is what I was told anyways. If you look in Manager, the ports are LAN1 and LAN2.
Okay guys thanks for info i remember now about the Wan=lan2 port ffej010, but i just want to try but opening the ports to see if it works and then i will progress to all your security I.T. ways. Thanks
