Received a call from a client today that phones were down. I visited the location and discovered the error lights were showing on the DTI card. I "jiggled"* the card and it started doing it's re-boot dance.
Phones came up and all was well.
I "jiggled" the card again, and it went down...all lights out. Jiggled one more time, did it's thing and all was well.
The system is wall-mount, so the card is pointing/pulling downward. I'm wondering if the position of the card has anything to do with it. I don't think this is a power-supply issue, as the expansion module stays powered-up, and jiggling the barrel connector has no effect.
Anyone else have this issue?
* - highly technical telephone repairman term.
I have never seen this with a BCM50 wall mount. I would power down and reseat the card.
Had a BCM-400 with a DTI.
Every few days the circuit would go down. She goes and reboots the system and up it comes. Could be 5 min or 5 days later - down again.
I could move the module and it would start up. Move it and it would go down.
I reseated the module, I moved it to a different bay. They even had another DTI that was used in the past but not now, so I changed modules.
Same thing.
Until one day, I was able to get a clue with it.
Replaced the T1 cable to the module. Have not heard back from them since.
I've re-seated the card, but it still comes on/off with the slightest touch.
NTlayoff: When you say "T1 cable", do you mean the Cat5 cable from the smart jack to the DTI card? That cable is fine and not loose.
I thought mine was a loose module, too.
Yes that is the cable I meant. I think my cable just had a problem with it. It felt tight also.
I had nothing else to try, so I replaced the cable.
I don't know if there is any adjustments you can do to tighten the latch ???
Maybe wedge something in there to make the DTI fit tight.
If that "fixes" it, maybe order another expansion unit or new DTI.
Or you could mount the BCM with the DTI card facing up, but I bet it is a pain, Nortel never did a very good job with those MBM's either thr amphenol got cocked when you out them in, and now this!

HA !! Someone got impatient with that nasty slow SUBMIT button. :nono: :toothy:

Yep, my old man used to fix everything with a matchbook cover. Now where to find a matchbook?
I've seen it. If you look inside the expansion cabinet where the release plastic comes across it was stuck n didn't let the Mbm fully latch in. I actually removed the release plastic and my problems went away.
Please describe what "release plastic" is.
Had the same kind of problem with an old Samsung DCS cabinet and solved it with some dry wall screws between cards, no more failures when someone heavy walks down the hallway.
When the Mbm is seated into place you know the trigger on the right side of it you pull to have the Mbm pop out. Remove the Mbm and pull the trigger Inside the expansion you will see a 6inch piece that rotates a bit to pop out the module. I had a spare cabinet I compared it to and it looked different. When I messed around with the switch I noticed it didn't look normal so I removed it.
OK. I'll check it out. Right now the card is functioning, so I'm not going to mess with it. It's only a matter of time before it happens again, though.
