We currently use a TD816 with a TVS120. We have 4 CO lines setup in an auto roll configuration and operate in Day/Night mode using the Auto Attendant. When in night mode, the CO lines ring directly into the store and if they are not answered than the TVS120 takes over and plays our store closed greeting. In day mode, the 4 CO lines are answered by the TVS120 which plays our company greeting than rings all 6 extensions in the store. The problem I am having is while in night mode, the KX-TD7896 rings on all incoming calls just like our KX-T7453 phones do. While in day mode, the KX-TD7896 will not ring at all. If I direct dial the extension it rings. If I bypass the TVS120 during the system greeting by entering the extension it rings. XDP is disabled on the extension. What can be causing this problem? I think it is something to do with the TVS120 but do not know what.

E-PC, welcome
It's not the TVS120.
you have to program the ringing assignments on your 7896 the same as any other port or extension on the system.
are you familiar with the programming?
You need to check program field 603 and set it to immediate for all CO lines on that port.

Thank you for your reply. The extension is already set to immediate. The 7896 is replacing the 7453 that was used on that extension. The 7453 works correctly but we have a need for a cordless phone. I have tried pluging the 7896 into all the other working extensions but the problem remains the same. Am I missing something about programing the 7896 directly?

Are you saying that if you plug a KX-T7453 into that port it rings on incoming during day and night but if you put the cordles 7896 in it's different?
Are you sure the ringer isn't off on the cordless?

Thats exactly what I am saying. I checked the ringer on the cordless and it is on. It doesnt make any sense. In night mode, the CO lines ring into the store 4 times BEFORE the AA picks up and the cordless rings each time just like the 7453 phones do. In day mode, the CO lines are intercepted by the AA to play our company greeting THAN the store phones will ring except for the 7896. If I plug the 7453 back inplace of the 7896 that extension rings like it is supposed to in day mode. I am severly stumped on this one.

It sounds as though the time out option on the TVS is ringing an extension # for a group.
With the 7896 connected, make sure it's part of that group in the TD816 and then reset the TD816.

Isn't there an SLT/EMSS switch on this phone? If the switch was set to SLT, it would require the analog portion of that port to be enabled for ringing even if the XDP is disabled. The 7453, being digital would ring because the digital portion of the port is enabled.

So set the switch to EMSS.

Kevhawk,
The 7896 does not have a SLT/EMSS switch.

MrG,
The 7896 is part of the group and I have reset the 816 by leaving the switch on normal and pushing the reset button but the problem still remains. If the 7453 phones are ringing, the cordless display does not show that there is even a call coming in. On the cordless, if I manually navigate to the CO line that is ringing on the 7453 phones I can answer it on the cordless.

PC, I'll have to pull up the manual for that cordless and go over it.
Meanwhile, start checking your wiring.
Plug that unit at the system with a 2 pair line cord and see what it does then.
I'll get back to ya.

PC, make sure that unit is set to "PBX type 2"

MrG,
It is correctly set to PBX type 2. I will check directly at the system with a 2 pair cord.

Connecting direct to the 816 still gives the same problem.

Ok, It's been awhile since I worked on an 816, but I still say make sure both the analog and digital portions of this port are enabled for ringing. For example if port 02-1 is set for immediate, it will ring the digital set (7453). But the 7896 is analog, so port 02-2 needs to be set to immediate for it to ring. Am I right, Mr. G?
Posted By: Exceptional PC Re: TD816, TVS120 and KX-TD7896 - 05/04/07 07:57 AM
It is on port 3. 03-1 and 03-2 are both set to immediate.
Posted By: MrGemini Re: TD816, TVS120 and KX-TD7896 - 05/04/07 08:30 AM
Kev, I concor.
PC, make certain that the XDP is disabled for port 3. Field 600
If it shows disabled press the store key again.
Also make sure there is no DIL 1-1 in the day mode for any CO lines.
Go into 407, press * and disable.

XDP is disabled. DIL 1-1 is pointing to extension 165 in day mode so our TVS120 picks up first and plays our company greeting. If I remove the 165 than there is no customer greeting. Night mode DIL 1-1 is disabled. The problem is only happining when the TVS120 intercept the incoming call.

Is the digital phone still connected to the port as well as cordless, If so the parnell ringer has to be turned on
Dial 691 on handset

OBT,
The cordless is the only phone connected to the port.

I suspect that when the Vmail answers, it then transfers to a Phantom Ext. So when you plug the Cordless phone in it no longer has a button for the Phantom Ext. therefore does not ring.
Posted By: Exceptional PC Re: TD816, TVS120 and KX-TD7896 - 05/04/07 01:13 PM
With the help of MrG we got it working. For some reason, the original installer setup a phantom extension to handle ALL the incoming calls. After programming the cordless with the phantom extension everything is working correctly.
Thank you to all that tried to help. I now found a new home for ALL my phone problems.

Ok guys, I talked with PC by phone and we went over everything step by step.
Come to find out the time out in the custom menu in the TVS 120 is calling 265!
This told me that they were using phantom extensions. Boom, it dawned on me, no phantom key setup on the cordless.
That's all it was.
I had thought they were using a ring group.
Anyway, it was interesting.
