Ok sorry to sound stupid, let me figure this out...

When you log in with Hyper Term, what do you get? Does telrad's PBX systems just use a terminal emulation? That way you don't have to use any software at all?

If CTRL-C doesn't break it, then it's locking up with XP, meaning that something's not going right with the interaction there, so you're going to have to find a solution. Have you tried contacting Telrad? I know that seems simple... and there isn't a windows release of their software?

Again, if all the telrads do is use terminal emulation, then why can't you use hyper terminal by itself?

Lucent/Avaya products do... Nortel as well on some of their switches.
