This is a very simple question. Is there a difference between an EL and an ELx cabinet? I thought that they were the same, the only difference was the MCC card. Thanks.

The EL vs ELX technically is the difference in main control cards. There are 2 different types of cabinets.
The newer cabinet has serial ports on the backplane (j10, j11) for PRI card support. Also, on the fron tof the card cage, you'll see screw down connectors for the BCC card (slot 9), and the PRI cards (slots 10, 11). If these features don't apply to your configuration, the cabinets are otherwise inter-changeable.

it is also very important to know that the EL cabinet does not support all the same cards as the ELx i.e. Pri card, BccIII etc.

Right, no caller ID to analog phones without the BCC III, but the ONS Class cards WILL work.
