The post about the TCX-128 stirred up some old memories. I was always fond of the 128 for some reason. What was the name of the TIE system that you 'programmed' by removing the back cover and wirewrapping posts on the backplane?

No, it was a big blue floor-mounted cabinet and heavy as heck.

Come to think of it, it may have been an early Iwatsu.

I was going to say that I don't remember a Tie that was like that, about the only on was the 308 that you had to put the stations on screw terminals that plugged into the boards.

The first generation Toshiba Strata III's had programming with wire wrapping on the backplane.
The first NEC Electra 28's had cards with Dip switches on them and was binary and cost 500 bucks dealer cost. If you wanted any phone other than the first 2 phones to ring you had to buy a card, toll restriction, buy a card......

The Iwatsu IDS 128 was definetly big and blue, but you programmed it with a special handheld programmer that had an LCD display and used alphanumeric prompts.
The IDS had a lot of features for its day and had more options on a per station basis than any other system being manufactured back in the mid 1980's
