I have a samsung dcs compact release 1 ,and 3 questions! First , what's involved in upgrading to a newer release, problem is that I need a voicemail transfer key thats not in release 1? Second , I installed a 2x4SLI in the third expansion slot other two slots have 2x4 DLI cards. Problem is only ext 217 works , 218, 219 and 220 can call other ext's and dail 9. The display shows a dash when you call from the three and when you dail them from another ext you get the out of service tone. Third question and not important but for some reason ext 202 lost its ability to have ringing line preference ,you have to press the line key. I think I have checked all the mmc's and user setting any ideas on that? Please help!

Upgrading to release 2.x means changing the eproms 2.6 is the current release. If you want to keep the programming, you need a misc 1 or 2 card in the system and then you can download the database and convert it to a level 2 release using pcmmc program. If you don't care about the programming then simply change eproms and turn off the battery backup on the ram card for a minute or 2.As for the second problem with the sli ports it sounds to me that they don't have an extension number assigned to them if you see a dash when calling a display telephone. You can assign an extension number in mmc 724 number plan.Did you do an mmc 806 after you put the card in ?You need to do that then assign extension numbers to the ports. The compact does not assign default extension numbers unless you default the entire system. Third the ringing line preferencefor a station is user programming in mmc 110 .Press transfer 110 from the phone and 61 to turn it on,60 to turn it off.

Thanks so much! I did do the mmc806 but i did not do the mmc724 I thought it would be automatic. mmc 110 is set to on at ext 202,still no luck I will try defaulting the system tomorrow to correct this!

Mmc 110 has a few different parameters for each station. You must do this at the station you are having trouble at.Also the phone must be ringing on the call for ringing preference to work.I'd check that first.

Thanks for all your help! The only other things, ringing line preference still does not work. I double checked mmc110 ring preference at ext 202 and is on, I tried turning it off then on again in mmc 110 still no luck. the phone rings on the outside calls and have line keys programmed. Actually the phone is in a group (501) which all 12 phones ring at the same time. I bought some EPROM's (4) today release 2.6 so maybe when I install them defaulting the system will fix this corky problem or whatever else programming I'm missing. Could you tell me if I will get the VT key and the VMMSG key with the EPROM's? Also will the display be able to access voicemail through the softkeys like on other dcs systems? how would you light voicemail messages on release 1? Thanks

So when ext. 202 rings, you see the display show the outside call on it?That's strange, you must have group 501 set to unconditional ring if you want all phones to ring at the same time.If you don't have a misc 1 or 2 card then you will have to default the sysetm when you change the software anyway.Yes if you have 2.6 you will get the VT key and VMMSG keys.On release 1 software, the voicemail message notification was using the normal message key.You should be able to use the softkeys to access the voicemail, but on the 2.6 if you press the VMMSG key it will also take you to the voicemail system.I am guessing you have a third party voicemail system attached to the compact?Being a dealer I always use the Samsung voicemail systems and they are plug in cards so the integration is very clean. To be honest,if you are going to change to release 2 software,I would recommend defaulting the system and starting from scratch.Let me know if you need more help.Good luck!

Thanks, I have not received my eproms yet but i will let you know how it goes. Yeah I'm putting in a third party mail, only because they are using all 10 lines now. I tried to get them to look at getting a bigger cabinet,no luck there!
