Thanks

Ip adress is displayed and changed through the serial port as the CP boots. There is no other way to reset it if you don't already know it.

If it was connected via the network already, there is also another way. You can use a address ping program that will scan for IP addresses. You can assing your laptop a valid address for there network, then connect to the call pilot direct and do a scan of the IP address range you are in. Otherwise use Marv's advise.

If it network's address then crossover cable will not help because you dont know what address you have to assign to your browser. Connect your laptop to the same Network and make your browser to use DHCP then you may try to connect to IP address of your CP.

Easiest way would be what telemarv advised earlier. If the IP address has not changed before then the default IP can be found the the administrators manual. If not get a serial cable connect to the CP and power cycle it with hyperterminal running. It will show the IP that is currently set and allow you to change it during boot up.

thanks.. I see that the defalt IP Is to be 192.168.110.10 but when I plug the Network Crossover Cable in and do a ipconfig i get 169.254.183.196 which I assume is the current IP address. However when I enter that IP into my IE Browser I get Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. Would i be better using a serial cable? Thanks for your help

Sounds like you are having a few troubles. If you are not that familair with IP addresses and a Scanbot program, do as Marv and Brian says and connect to the CP via the serial cable to at least find out what the address is. I was more floating it out there if you did not have a serial cable that there is another way.

ok. I have used a serial cable, and can go through the boot up and see the IP address and it is set for 192.168.110.10 as the defalt still. I have changed my computer to a ip of 192.168.110.2 and a sub of 255.255.255.0 and a defalt gateway of 192.168.110.1.
I get a solid 100 Mbps when connect, but when i type in the 192.168.110.1 IP in my browser bar, it does not connect. Any ideas what i might still be doing wrong? Thanks

If you can ping 192.168.110.10 from your laptop but can't browse to it I'd check your exceptions list for IE if you normally connect through a proxy server. I know that's what it was for me the first time I had to browse to one.
