The LCD display of this set attached to a CICS started showing increasing dead spots a few months ago. I replaced it with a hastily ordered one (customer was very impatient), then I got a call a couple days ago that the replacement had also started showing dead pixels. This is an old set the customer has been using for many, many years. What's going on? Has the set gone bad, or was the supposedly "new" LCD defective?
I'm leaning towards telling them to relax and to order a certifiably new set.

Could just be the LCD, however, I've got one here with the same issue. Changed the LCD at least 3 times. Think I'll just just the set & try the LCD on another, so it's not a total write-off.

What a strange one...
Having fixed thousands of those phones, I cannot say that I have ever heard of that happening. I would do as Dave suggested and try the LCD in a known good phone and see what happens.

How long replacement was working fine? If long enough then you go and replaced ot again. If not change port if you have one spare.

have come across lcd that keep going bad ,i have been told from the company that refurb's them that sometime's a faulty circuit board (lcd driver section)can overpower the lcd and cause premature failures which suggests after second lcd failure , replace set

I thought you said a reset would help

Thanks for the responses.
vad60, the LCD replacement was working fine for 3-4 months.
Fire Eater, I also thought that there could be a problem with the LCD driver, but wouldn't over/underpower problems show up much sooner than 3 months?
The customer is ordering a new set, but as suggested I'm going to test the LCD on another 7310 anyway.
