Customer has D816 KSU and his two cordless 3 line phones are dead. He does not want new batteries, he would like new phones. Currently has KX-T880 sets. Any recommendations on a new multi-line cordless?? Will any programming be required or will it just kick into play once it is connected?? Thanks in advance for the help!!

BCM, are you saying that the control is a KX-TD 816 and the cordless sets are KXT 7880 ?
Those would be old cordless pits.
the replacement is the KX-T 7896.

Thank you. What about programming?? Will that be required on the cordless phones or will existing programming follow the new sets??

You need to set the system type on the cordless to tell it what system it's gonna be connected to, the td816 might be default though.

You'll need to label the f-co keys on the cordless. One difference on this model is that you toggle a joystick to the right to get to your 12 programmable f-co keys (lines, exts, page all etc..) This phone also has speakerphone, backlit keys and better range.

You might be able to just plug and play but if the user likes to use the f-co keys they will be confused since those keys won't be labeled.

Phone has 12 soft buttons in display. Program phone as any other. Set buttons with DOS tool or EXT program. Label button names with the cordless programming. Both are covered in the User guide that comes with it.
