Do you mean Utility/Port Status?
If so all four ports are marked as 'ready' Calling 107 and 108, the ports change to 'incoming call' 115 and 116 nadda - busy tone and ports remain 'ready'
Maybe there is a way to test the analogue (APT mode) ports via the command console?
I wonder if anyone can point me to the latest firmware for the 824? I understand 3.0.3l is available.

Its 3.0.9 and you need latest PCMC to load it
in screen 1.2 on TA left hand corner
you have a tick in APT and you have selected seems TVA knows the 502 is in there JACK 07 & 08 & 15 & 16 and you have 4 4 cond line cords patched Jacks 7/8/15/16 from ta to tva and tried reversing 15 & 16 line cords if yes in tva do you have ports 1-4 in service group one
I noticed that you changed some exts to 15x could you have changed jacks/ext 115/116 to something else?if you ring 108 does tva answer?

3.0.9 wow I'm on way old firmware.
In screen 1.2 - APT selected for jacks 07/08 & 15/16
Screen 2.6 - Jacks 07/08 in hunt grp 7, jacks 15/16 in hunt grp 8, Hunt grps 7 and 8 set to Circular
Once this was setup I ran the Quick setup on the TVA, I set it for 624/824 APT intergration and finished setup.
I can call 107 and 108 fine - VPS answers. 115 and 116 is busy and in TVA port diags there is no indication of the port going in use.

there are no hunt groups they are ext groups on 824 there is no need to group the vm exts they are already in group by virtue of being flagged as vm apt ports
I have never added a 502 after the fact If it were me id back the tva up and reintialize the tva and reload

Sorry, as usual I am using the wrong terminology. They are described as 'extension hunting groups' on the 824.
This is what I did under guidance from the TVA installation manual:
When Port 7 & 8 is selected in program [130], extension jack numbers 07 and 08 will be in extension group 7 automatically. Likewise, when Port 15 & 16 is selected in program [131], extension jack numbers 15 and 16 will be in extension group 8 automatically. Also the Extension Hunting type is set as Circular automatically in each of these 2 extension groups.

In Pt programming 130 would be 7/8 & 15/16.
131 would be Disable.

Why on earth didn't I notice that! I take it the pics on the manual are referring to if you use two vps's?
Thanks so much all is good now!

Also I managed to get hold of the newer firmware for the TA (3.0.9), so it's nice to be current, but it did not (of course) fix the issue. The issue is/was and will probably always be the loose screw typing this message
